Hendrickson Beaird provides preparation and reconciliation of Standardized Measure of Oil and Gas (SMOG) and related reserves disclosures using a purpose-designed, technology-enabled workflow.

Our approach combines firsthand experience preparing SMOG and reserves reconciliations at a public oil and gas company with decades of petroleum engineering and reserves reporting experience.

Rather than recreate a traditional spreadsheet-based process, we use a structured, data-driven calculation and reconciliation process designed specifically for reserves and SMOG reporting. The methodology uses monthly cash flows and allows source data, reconciliation calculations, and final reporting to operate at different levels of detail. This provides greater precision in cash-flow timing, discounting, and the reconciliation of changes while allowing reserves, production, cost, and development data to be used at their natural levels of detail.

Defined reconciliation steps and visualization-assisted review help identify and investigate anomalies, while supporting data, assumptions, and calculations are retained to provide a transparent and reproducible record of the process.
